You Make Us So Happy

Mother's Day picture for my dear Grandma Muffy. The lovely models are my little sister and our nephew.

Grandma Muffy is the most amazing person. She raised 4 kids on her own and raised them well. I have the best daddy and aunts thanks to her. She's the best listener you could ever meet and has the most beautiful insights that have inspired me like no other whenever I'm upset and need to shine some light on my confusing situation. I would rather sit and enjoy a conversation with her than any other activity. She's the physical manifestation of love and patience. If only everyone could have her in their lives.

Grandma "Elephant"

My late Grandma Judy got the nickname of "Grandma Elephant" when my little brother tried to pronounce "Grandma Sullivan" and couldn't get it quite right. It stuck because she's so adorably tiny.

This was the first digital speed painting I've done that I did quickly (about 3 hours) with confidence and gave strong results that showed that I was paying close attention in all my art classes at college.

I love and miss you, sweet Grandma.

Beautiful Boy

This is my significant other when he was little. He reminds me of the children Normal Rockwell painted. He has that nostalgic aura to him, doesn't he? This is a gift for his mom for Mother's Day.

He is a good man - that's really the bottom line. He treats me better than royalty. He's hard working and dedicated. He loves deeply and never hesitates to help wherever needed. He's a good friend who is always willing to listen. Our dates are always fun and relaxed, often including my siblings and friends. I'm grateful to have him in my life.

Happy Birthday Fauxy

This is the process of my gift for my PHENOMENAL friend, Faux (redfauxofenigmas on deviantart). We met in high school in art class of my Senior year. She instantly befriended me and I fell in love with her humour, kindness and zest. She is mature, sensitive to others, forgiving, free of malice, grateful, thoughtful and so hard working. I wish everyone could know her. She's on the left, I'm on the right. This is a photo from my last day of our art class together.

Caricatures

 This is a beautiful family I had the opportunity to draw caricature portraits of a few months ago. I was having loads of fun drawing them completely skewed, as caricatures usually are, when I realised that children are sensitive and may not appreciate that. Hence these caricatured got toned down dramatically to the point of just being slightly exaggerated cartoons. Still it was such fun to do and I hope to do caricatures again.

first attempt

This was my first attempt at Ave Maria. My client was so kind and claimed she liked this one. It wasn't until I showed it to my family and heard them say "How cute! It's an anime Virgin Mary!" that I realized my attempt at realism had miserably failed. Sometimes I get so excited about a project that I can't see obvious flaws.

This project has been quite a learning experience! After a year of nannying I have lost a lot of what I learned at college. This one project sure jogged my memory quickly! Commission for a client.
