I have a silly brain that enjoys variety to the point where I have a hard time working on the same thing for too long. Last week I was relearning digital painting so it was challenging enough that I could work on a painting from start to finish within a day. Now that I'm getting the hang of it my brain is getting bored (dangit) and wants to change things up.
Hence I've been working here and there on several different pieces at one time, and it seems to keep my brain happy enough.
I used to use the magic wand tool to select the inked areas and then just fill them with the flat colors and lock the layer to color it, but I've found that creates a pixelated edge so now I'm taking the time to fill it in by hand.
I've also found that adding the mouth, eyes and brows first helps to create a sort of "frame" for the face, making it easier to complete everything in a timely manner instead of blindly shading in the face and then having to fix it after I paint in the eyes and realise I had the shadows all wonky.
